Still Photography: Hillcrest High Steppin' Majorettes
You can see it on people's faces when they watch Hillcrest High Steppin' Majorettes and Drum Corps: the feeling of pure joy in watching youth, fluidity and feeling a beat. But this programs fills more than a popular spot in Asheville's annual Holiday Parade. It has provided structure, community and cultural pride for hundreds of children who have stepped through the program, many from Hillcrest, the public housing apartments where the majorettes got their name.
